The Equipment

The Asclepion NanoStar C MT carries three wavelengths: 694nm, 1064nm, and 532nm, which can be used individually or in combination depending on what the tattoo requires.

694nm Ruby — Targets stubborn greens, blues, and pastel pigments that defeat most standard laser systems.

1064nm Nd:YAG — The primary wavelength for dark inks including black and deep navy. Penetrates deeper into the skin and is effective across a wide range of skin tones.
532nm KTP — Targets warm-toned inks including reds, oranges, and certain purples that the other wavelengths cannot address as effectively.

Having all three wavelengths in one system means the full spectrum of tattoo pigment can be addressed in a single treatment course. If ink colour or behaviour changes during treatment (as occasionally happens) the wavelength is adjusted without changing equipment or referring elsewhere.

How Laser Tattoo Removal Works

Laser energy is delivered in precise pulses into the tattooed skin. The pigment absorbs this energy and fragments into smaller particles, which the body’s immune system clears naturally over the weeks that follow.

Fading continues between sessions, which is why treatments are spaced to allow the skin adequate time to recover and respond. Most sessions last between 10 and 30 minutes depending on the size of the tattoo.

The skin may appear white or frosted immediately after treatment, this is a normal physiological response caused by gas bubbles forming in the skin. It settles within around 20 minutes.

Consultation and Patch Test

Your tattoo is assessed in detail: colour, depth, age, skin type, and any scarring present within the tattoo. A patch test is carried out, required by insurance and essential for establishing how your skin responds to the laser. Treatment parameters (wavelength, power, frequency) are set and documented. Your goals are discussed and realistic expectations are set before any treatment begins.

Treatment

The correct wavelength or combination of wavelengths is selected for your specific ink colours. The laser is applied in short, controlled pulses while the Zimmer Cryo cools the skin throughout. Sessions are typically short.

Recovery

Full written aftercare instructions are provided after every session. Keep the area clean, protected from sun exposure, and away from heat, saunas, and intense exercise for 48 hours. Treat it as you would a fresh tattoo.

Progress

Fading develops gradually between sessions. Spacing depends on where the tattoo is located — areas closer to the heart benefit from stronger circulation and can typically be treated every 4 weeks. Areas further from the heart are spaced 6 to 10 weeks apart. Each session builds on the last.

What About Difficult Ink Colours?

Most laser systems use a single wavelength, which limits the range of colours they can treat effectively. Greens, blues, reds, and pastels are particularly problematic for standard equipment.

The Asclepion NanoStar C MT eliminates this limitation. Each of its three wavelengths targets a different part of the colour spectrum, meaning virtually any ink colour can be addressed within a single treatment course, with the wavelength selected or combined based on what’s actually in your skin.

The one pigment that behaves unpredictably is white ink. Depending on the metal compounds used in its production, white pigment can temporarily darken under laser treatment. When this happens the darkened pigment is then treated as a standard dark colour in subsequent sessions. This is assessed and explained during your consultation, it doesn’t derail the treatment, it simply shapes the plan.

Scarring Within the Tattoo

Many tattoos, particularly older work, heavily saturated pieces, or tattoos applied with a heavy hand carry scar tissue within them. This affects how laser energy behaves in the skin and is a factor in assessing how many sessions may be required.

What most clients don’t realise is that laser treatment works to reduce or improve the appearance of scar tissue at the same time as clearing the ink. It’s not a separate process and the two happen simultaneously. If your tattoo has scarring, this is assessed at consultation and factors into the treatment plan.
