1064nm Nd:YAG — The primary wavelength for dark pigments including black and deep brown brow work. Effective across a wide range of skin tones.

532nm KTP — Targets warm-toned pigments including reds, oranges, and the reddish-brown tones that can develop during treatment as a result of pigment oxidation.

This three-wavelength capability is particularly valuable in brow removal. Cosmetic pigments are less predictable than conventional tattoo ink — and when pigment behaviour changes mid-course, the wavelength is switched and treatment continues without interruption.

The challenge is that manufacturers don’t always disclose exactly which metals have been used, and even when they do, pigment behaviour under laser treatment isn’t entirely predictable in advance.

What can happen (and it doesn’t occur in every case) is that after one or two sessions a colour change becomes visible. Rather than fading as expected, the brow area may shift to a reddish, brown, or generally warm tone. This is oxidation of the metal compounds responding to the laser energy.

When this happens, I switch to the 532nm wavelength which targets warm-toned pigments directly. From that point, most cases are one to two sessions away from the desired outcome.

It sounds complicated, in practice it means I know what to look for, I know exactly what to do when I see it, and it doesn’t derail the treatment. It simply shapes the plan going forward.

Treatment Journey in four steps:

Step 1: Consultation and Patch Test Your brows are assessed in detail, pigment colour, density, depth, skin type, the technique originally used, and how many layers of brow work have been applied.
